Strange Tales 123

For the first time that I recall seeing,  Dr. Strange stole half the cover away from The Human Torch;  to promote his feature, guest starring Thor. In this tale, Loki aims to trick Dr. Strange into helping him defeat Thor, but can such a trick work, or will Dr. Strange realize the truth in time to stop the evil plan?

March 5, 2012 | Drew | (No Comments)
Strange Tales 116

The second tale that I reviewed today from Strange Tales #116 is Dr. Strange’s tale, titled “Return To The Nightmare World” and in this mystic story we have a feature length thriller that is reminiscent of the first appearance of Dr. Strange back in Strange Tales #110.

In this tale, we have nightmare trapping people in their sleep into the nightmare dimension so that they never wake up. Thus it is left to Dr. Strange, to do what only he can, stop nightmare and rescue the sleeping victims so that they can awaken.  (more…)

Strange Tales #115
The Origin of Dr. Strange

February 21, 2012 | Drew | (No Comments)
Strange Tales 115

That’s right, after having several Dr. Strange stories under our belt, today we get to the origin of our Strange hero. but before i dive into that, if your here looking for the Human Torch story of this issue, please click here for my review of that one.

Dr. Strange is not so unlike our other marvel hero’s , and in fact may have a lot in common with the now cancelled  Dr. Droom stories.   He was a normal man, a surgeon, with very normal motives. Then like most Marvel comic hero’s  a tragic event put him though is paces and lead him down the path that changed his life forever.

But I am not going to spoil the origin for you, it is good enough to be worth reading yourself, so I suggest that you pick it up in reprint, you can get it here:Doctor Strange, Vol. 1 (Marvel Masterworks) (more…)

Strange Tales #114
The Return Of The Omnipotent Baron Mordo!

February 3, 2012 | Drew | (No Comments)
strange tales 114

After being gone for a couple month, Dr. Strange returns, and not without editorial explanation on its first page. and I quote:

In Strange Tales #110 and #111 we introduced the mystifying Dr. Strange! Then, we waited to receive your letters, to see if you would want him continued! Well, your enthusiastic mail left us only one choice, and so… We proudly present the third in our newest series…

Now to summarize the story, Dr. Strange is contacted by Sir Clive Bentley, seeking an imitate need for help, despite how odd it is, he is unable to refuse the call, and shows up, little does he know he is walking right into a trap set by Baron Mordo! (more…)

In our second tale of Dr. Strange, we have him face to face with Baron Mordo, or at least trance image to face.  Just as the first Dr. Strange tale, this is but 5 short pages, but what it offers in just a few pages is a good story and good character.
