      This comic book review is of the story titled “The Cobra and Mr. Hyde”; and serves as the first part of a two-part story that is started in Journey Into Mystery #105.  in this epic tale, we have two former Thor villain, whom each almost stopped the god of thunder, teaming up to do what they could not do on their own.

      but in addition to that team up, we continue to have Thor struggling with his love for Jane foster, and quite willing to hang up his hammer to be with the woman he loves.  but does this story of action and heart have what it takes to be great.

      Artwork

      I felt there where several great examples of foreshortening in this issue.  from the cover, to many panels within.  the feeling of depth seemed more at a constant, and helped make the world, and story feel even more real. while I feel there are many panels that showcase this, I have picked two to share with you;

      The first, is of Dr Blake and Jane Foster in his lab, while there having a conversation.  over a set of four panels, we have an ongoing change of angles between the two, and who is the main focus,   but all while offering us a feeling of depth, with this change and via foreshortening.

      Then later in this same issue, we have Thor in pursuit of  Mr. Hyde, and as they go though a slightly crowded machinery exhibit.  In this , we not only have  great use of foreshortening, but of limited colors.  giving the only real color definition to Thor,  and Mr. Hyde,  and keeping the people, and machines   in a more gray tone.  This serves to draw our eyes to the important details

      Originality & Continuity

      I feel the way that this story starts, and even the link to the past events of both The Cobra and Mr. Hyde is a bit on the weak side.   But then as the story takes off and begins to unfold, it seems to have the feel of originality in there plan to get even with the god of thunder.  Overall leaving me divided on the issue of Originality & Continuity, and hoping for an improvement in the next act of this tale.

      Characters & Development

      In this tale, I feel we have the continued struggle between Thor’s wants, and the demands of his father;  we also have a good feeling of Jane Foster’s stance, however while all this is stated, I do not feel it is developed in the first part of this story.   also leaving  me looking at this as being at par, with high hopes for the second half.

      Story

      Overall, the story, was well written, and action packed,  it may not be one of my favorites  but it was an enjoyable read.  the artwork plays well into the written word, and  dialogue.  while this story is missing a good contention with the past’s of our new antagonist, I do see the possibility for positive growth for their future.
