For Today’s Comic Book Review I read  the Story “Thor and Loki Attack The Human Race!” from Journey Into Mystery #94. That is correct, you read right, Thor and Loki, working together, but it is sad to say that the cover and the opening page tell us about all we need to know about this story.  The True fact is if I just judged this book by its cover, it would have gotten a better review.

Story

The Mighty Good of thunder Thor suffers a strike to the head while saving the world that results in brain damage.  as the story goes, this whole blow was the plan of Loki, and it results in Thor having a change in personality, going from good to evil.

While, this could have been quite a good story, if it involved some degree of an epic event to take down the god of thunder, and rescue him and his mind from the grasp of Loki’s tick, it involves none of that.

Instead, Thor and Loki  run the world  causing mischief as the story goes on,  with little to spark much interest. with each new feat the two perform, the plausible deniability stretches further to the point of bursting. But then the ending is what does it all in:

I think the gods ambush Thor and Loki while posing as UN delegates was bad enough. But the fact that after they do that, they also propose a miraculous way to undue all the damage Thor and Loki caused, and Erase every humans memory of the events. This all just takes it to far, making an issue what was not all that interesting to read, and making it even pointless taking out any story development that could have derived from it.

As such, the story offers no redeeming qualities to have made it worth reading or even enjoyable. What was Stan Lee thinking?

The artwork of this issue was satisfactory,  it is not so good that it offers a positive element to balance the bad story, but its far from matching the story in being horrifying.  Given the Plot that Joe Sinnott was given to work with, I am surprised it was that good.

Originality & Continuity

forward thinking, I feel this is horrifying for continuity. The story in its self, wipes out the events that occur.   This fact alone supersedes any level of originality the story may have.

Characters & Development

I will give this story a few good points here and your about to see why:

Thor, Gone bad

I think you can learn a bit about a hero when they ‘change sides’.  when a good guy is being good, their aways pulling there punches on some level or concerned about the well-being of another, in addition to that seeing their opisate personality you can learn about their real personality.

The Gods of Asgard, In action

while the action part is questionable, you get to see the other gods act out for once, instead of just letting Thor do the work.  I feel this is a good step for the large segment of a supporting cast for the Thor comics.

Comic Book Review Summery

Even if you could get this comic today for the 12 cents it cost in 1963, I would tell you to save your money. In fact, you might have to pay me to read this comic again, and that is rare for me.
