In Strange Tales #125 we have the Human Torch and the Thing, being there usual rough housing selves; before learning about the approach  of the Namor the sub-mariner on the shores of New York.   Eager to prove themselves, and impress some reporters whom had just left, they decide to take on the powerful advisory without the aid of the remaining two members of the Fanatic Four.    How well do these two heroes fare against Namor?  and what are the consequences of there actions. I suggest you read the issue, then read on to see just what I thought of this volume.

    Story

This tale, is one at this at the heart of the problem with the solo adventures in Strange Tales,  mainly in finding the reason to act alone… but also in how the human torch and now the thing can tangle alone with threats that it has taken the whole team to handle.  This issue, in its own way pokes fun at that… offering not just the difficulties our hero face, but also the cost of facing Namor without having spoken to the rest of the team… lets just say, things where not as they seemed..

    Characters & Development

    Namor the Sub-Mariner

In this tale, Namor has more development then our main cast,  and that all ties to the real reason he is heading to New York, the plans for a meeting and discussion of peace between him and Mr. Fantastic offering insight into just the kind of character Namor is, and will be.  however it is the actions of our heroes in this issue that delay any real development while offering some insight into the soul of Namor.Thing and Human Torch Fight Namor

    Originality & Continuity

While not in opposition to the continuity of Fantastic Four, or even Namor fully. it offers a feeling of something missing. Namor has shown up a few times after Fantastic Four Annual, yet this seems designed to fit after that.  While I feel it fits fine where or ‘when’ it is, it does feel a little off.
