For this comic book review I read the Iron Man feature from Tales Of Suspense #54. this story was titled “The Mandarin’s Revenge” and serves at the first part of a two-part story.

In this tale, Tony Stark goes to Vietnam to investigate the cause of some of his missiles malfunctioning, only after some careful thinking does he concluded that the Mandarin must be responsible and sets out to find a way to stop him.  But does part one of this epic battle live up to all my hopes?

      Artwork

even though I do not like the redesigned iron man mask in this issue, I feel that Don Heck did a great job with the artwork.  his attention to the small details such as the lines on Tony Stark face to the subtle look of his eyes behind the iron man mask all work into making this art top notch.

The Panels I am picking to share are three consecutive  panels from page two, that I feel really let you get a good look at the small details of the lines in both tony stark’s face, and the background, and lets you see the attention that was paid to small details.

      Characters & Development

Tony Stark Love Triangle with pepper and Happy

Early in this issue we see tony reacting hard to the idea of Pepper Potts and Happy Hogan being together, in fact-finding a way to keep them apart while he goes on this most dangerous of missions. In doing this, he also expresses in his own internal Monologue how he feels about pepper, and how he fears what may be developing between Pepper and Happy. This is a strong, and important moment I feel for Tony, and for what I see coming down the line between the three characters.

      Originality & Continuity

I feel that Tales Of Suspense #50 is taken into account quite well with this issue, and that it lives up to what that story as well as others have put in place for our hero. While I feel this one did well, the book is still out until after I read the next part of this ongoing story.

      Story

This tale was action packed, and intense, and left me at the edge of my seat waiting to find out what happens next.  rarely is a cliffhanger so well done at the end of part one; i hope part two does it the justice it deserves, I know I won’t be able to wait too long before finding out.
