For today’s comic book review I read Tales To Astonish #52, starting Giant-Man and The Wonderful Wasp!  Just from the cover of the classic comic book I seen great promise, and not just from the words, but also from the clean appearance. but is the tale titled “The Black Knight Strikes!” meant to be a good one? or is it something that should have been forgotten by history?

      Story

The plot and story of this one seems sound,  a scientific mind who has suffered a defeat by Giant-Man when trying to sell US secrets to communist China wants revenge.  after skipping out on bail, and spending months developing the technology to confront Giant-Man he returns as the black knight, complete with a flying horse and a lance with countless weapons built into it to stop our hero.

Unlike some menaces we have seen in the past, the black knight seems powerful enough without having too much at this point. offering us a greatly designed and written foe for Giant-Man

      Artwork

Dick Ayers did a wonderful job with this issue of Gaint-Man, and I feel he brought both our hero’s, and the antagonist to life with the artwork.

The panel i picked to included is of Giant-man pulling the black knight off of a roller-coaster. you can see the motion in the panel, while also seeking the shock on the black knights face and even the poor guy who is on the coaster looking back.  The details such as the added person is just another part of what makes it great.

      Originality & Continuity

it is good to see Giant-Man / Ant-Man using his size changing abilities more, to become just what he is needed, when he needs too. but it is a little disturbing that no one seems to realize him and Ant-Man have a connection,  I can understand not seeing them as the same, but they do both work with the wasp, it’s not a stretch to connect some of the dots.

      Character & Development

      Giant-Man’s True Feelings

In this issue, we get another hint and peak at just how Giant-man feels, as he is about to take a leap out of a plain to try to save the day.  there is just enough said for us to get the idea.
