Return To The Nightmare World
The second tale that I reviewed today from Strange Tales #116 is Dr. Strange’s tale, titled “Return To The Nightmare World” and in this mystic story we have a feature length thriller that is reminiscent of the first appearance of Dr. Strange back in Strange Tales #110.
In this tale, we have nightmare trapping people in their sleep into the nightmare dimension so that they never wake up. Thus it is left to Dr. Strange, to do what only he can, stop nightmare and rescue the sleeping victims so that they can awaken. (more…)

The Origin of Dr. Strange
That’s right, after having several Dr. Strange stories under our belt, today we get to the origin of our Strange hero. but before i dive into that, if your here looking for the Human Torch story of this issue, please click here for my review of that one.
Dr. Strange is not so unlike our other marvel hero’s , and in fact may have a lot in common with the now cancelled Dr. Droom stories. He was a normal man, a surgeon, with very normal motives. Then like most Marvel comic hero’s a tragic event put him though is paces and lead him down the path that changed his life forever.
But I am not going to spoil the origin for you, it is good enough to be worth reading yourself, so I suggest that you pick it up in reprint, you can get it here:Doctor Strange, Vol. 1 (Marvel Masterworks) (more…)

After being gone for a couple month, Dr. Strange returns, and not without editorial explanation on its first page. and I quote:

Now to summarize the story, Dr. Strange is contacted by Sir Clive Bentley, seeking an imitate need for help, despite how odd it is, he is unable to refuse the call, and shows up, little does he know he is walking right into a trap set by Baron Mordo! (more…)

The Mighty Thor! Defying The Magic Of... Mad Merlin!
For Today’s Comic Book Review i Read the Thor Story from Journey Into Mystery #96. This story is titled “The Mighty Thor! Defying The Magic Of… Mad Merlin!” and as we sit down to read and review it, we have to ask ourselves if it is truly a magical story, or if it is one that will just fizzle out.
to summarize the events of the comic, we have the crypt of Merlin being discovered, and his sarcophagus was transferred to New York to be opened at a museum. After being opened though, Merlin awakens and leaves having high hopes to become a modern seat of power. In his first attempt to impress the modern world, he learns to achieve his goal, he must first stop Thor. (more…)

Dr. Strange Master Of Black Magic
In Strange Tales #110, a second key marvel character graced the pages with his own story. This will lead me to review not only the Human Torch Tale, but a tale by another key figure. Who is this character? Why none other than Dr. Strange, a character much more suited to fill the pages of a comic book magazine titled Strange.
Just because his name does not grace the cover of this comic, The Human Torch is still the star story and character of Strange Tales; this would be the beginning of a game changer for the marvel universe. As such it is that much more important that I do a comic book review of it. Worry not Torch fans, you can find his strange Tales #10 Review here as well.
