The tale for Giant-Man and the wasp (although just barely) for Tales To Astonish#60 is a communist fighting adventure titled “The Beast Of Berlin”. In this tale, Giant-man goes off alone (after telling her for the first time about how his wife died) to Communist controlled Berlin to rescue a friend captured by the communist as well as deal with the threat of a powerful weapon that he leaned about from the same friend. Kang, The Conqueror!
This issue is a fitting follow-up to Fantastic Four Annual #8, as in this issue we find out that we indeed know who Kang is, and that we have seen him -although briefly- in that issue. You see Kang, The Conqueror the time traveler the Avengers are facing off in this issue, by his own admissions is the same man as Rama-Tut! In his telling of the story, and events, what occurred in Fantastic Four Annual #2 was a part of his recent Past. Having traveled back to the future –in fact further into the future then whence he came.
I find myself glad, in this telling; all references and suggestions of him and Doctor Doom being one and the same removed. Be it he came to his senses or Stan Lee decided to drop that plot idea, I know not. But at least for now – Kang gets to be his own man.
But the big question we have to ask ourselves is how can the Avengers stop Kang with weapons from 2,000 years in the future? Even Kang thinks it impossible, and even the Avengers need a little help from Rick Jones and the Teen Brigade. But if you want to know just how they succeed, I would suggest you read this classic Avengers story. (more…)

Mission: capture Adolph Hitler!
To start off my comic book review of Sgt. Fury And His Howling Commandos #9, I have to start with the cover itself; where we have the commandos surrounded with Hitler on a pedestal behind them. The title “Mission: Capture Hitler!” to the right. Lastly the bubble that says it all: “The world knew that it couldn’t be done! But Fury and his Howlers had to do it…!!” Just from looking at the cover, we know what this issue is about, and what an intense story we are in for. (more…)

Loki Prince of Evil!
With Journey Into Mystery #108, featuring The Might Thor in the story titled “Loci Prince Of Evil!” We have a story consisting of 3 grand scenes, starting off with Thor saving a young boy via a hammer strike from afar.. and then Thor / Don Blake working to save the life in the OR of another marvel hero, One Doctor Strange! Lastly we have Loki facing off against Thor in a scheme that is more direct than what has been attempted in the last 8 issues – where we had Loki working more behind the scenes manipulating other villains. But is this epic battle, everything it could be and should be? I will get into that down below. (more…)

The Fangs Of The Desert Fox!
Today as I sit down to write my comic book review of Howling Commandos #6, the story titled “The Fangs Of The Desert Fox!” I am left with more to think about then just the artwork, and story, but the not to subtle deeper meaning that was the real heart of this story, one that I think is more important than the story itself, in particularly for 1964; but I will get to that soon. The Origin Of Daredevil
This comic book review is of Daredevil #1, who’s cover uses the fantastic Four, and Spider-Man to say how great this comic book will be. But does this classic first issue and Origin story meet my expectation’s. ones that Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four both helped to set, or was marvel blinded by their ego’s with the self promotion on this classic cover? Lord Ha-Ha's Last Laugh!
For today’s comic book review I read Sgt. Fury And His Howling Commandos #4, with the story titled “Lord Ha-Ha’s Last Laugh!”. but this tale of our favor Sgt. Nick Fury and his seven Howling Commandos had everything we have come to hope for from these tales, and a hole lot more.
The basic background of the story is our seven hero’s get sent to Berlin to get Lord Ha Ha, an Englishman who its beveled has been captured and forced to spread propaganda for the Nazi’s. Iron Man Versus Gargantus!
Even from the cover, our second iron man story seems to feature our hero, now gold-colored facing off what seems to be some ancient monster of a brute. But what the real question comes down too, is does this story build upon what we were given as an origin the month before?
Also what of Tony Stark, does Iron Man live a double life? does he keep his identity secret? all kinds of question’s to be responded to that the origin story did not have a need to address. (more…)
