For this comic book review I read Avengers #9, the story in this volume is titled “The Coming Of the … Wonder Man!”. In this tale we have Baron Zemo, The Enchantress, and The Executioner returning from their banishment that occured in Avengers #7. Like most typical villains, their mind is single focused n gaining revenge, seeking to thort and destroy the avengers whom wronged them. To do this, they seek out another wronged -in a way- by the avengers. In this case Simon Williams is found, and turned into Wonder Man by the genius of Zemo. Wonder Man with a wondrous array of powers, the strength, speed, and skill to rival the avengers – kept in check by Zemo only by the need to continuously retrieve an antidote for the method that caused his super-powers or otherwise die – is then sent to infiltrate the avengers, to help Zemo destroy them from within. The Return Of The Green Goblin!
TIn amazing Spider-Man #17 we have the tale titled “The Return Of the Green Goblin!”. This feature offers a lot of pieces, that all add to the larger tapestry of the issue as well as the ongoing adventures of Spider-Man. From the blunder early in the issue, where spider-man interfere with the filming of a Movie,( a theme that in some ways brings us back to the green goblins last appearance, and also reminds us of other stories) Serves as a starting ground for discrediting Spider-Man.
Though all this Peter Parkers greatest school yard enemy Flash Thompson proves -quite ironically- to be Spider-Mans most loyal fan, and thus pushes for the start of a Fan club. In creating this, Flash with the help of Liz, whom has her own motives sets up a further meeting of the club at a well of club, and prom ices in the newspaper spider-mans arrival. Just the kind of opportunity Green Goblin has been looking for.
So, the club draws out Spider-Man hoping to fix his reputation, Green Goblin hoping to defeat Spider-Man, Johnny Storm (The Human Torch) with his date Doris Evans show up to see the hero, J Jonah Jameson hoping to find something to use against Spider-Man, And if that’s not enough, there is a whole club full of full of fans as well.
But that is not even half of the adventure and thrill in the issue…

Iron Man In Mortal Combat With Captain America!
In this Iron Man feature, One month before Captain America becomes the regular co-feature of Tales Of Suspense we have the two Heros face-off against each other in a battle of hero’s true to the comic book style of the time. In this issue, the Chameleon convinces Iron Man, that Captain America is the Chameleon. Sending Iron Man off to face the real Captain America. Sound confusing? well, take a gander over the issue and it will all make sense. (more…)

The Return of the Blob
X-Men #7 offered us a bit of everything, from character development, so story development as our hero’s move along the course of their early adventures. In this tale The original X-men Graduate, and all in only seven issues. But now, they are left alone – as Professor X leaves them for tasks unknown – to protect the world under the leadership of Cyclops. If you think things can’t get any tougher for the young mutants, this issue features the Blob as a new member of the Evil Mutants.
Can the X-men Stop Magneto, Toad, Mastermind, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and the Blob, all without the help of their beloved Professor Xavier? Will the blob remain loyal to the brother hood of Evil Mutants? these questions and more are addressed in X-Men #7, but the issue also does a wonderful job leaving us to wonder: What business called Professor Xavier away? That will just have to be saved for a future story… (more…)

Kraven The Hunter
Amazing Spider-Man #15, offered us a lot, the cover alone shows us that it is the first appearance of Kraven The Hunter, as well as the return of the Chameleon. But this issue offers us a lot more then just what can be derived from the cover. On the pages in between; we have drama in peter porkers love life, a spider-man faced with dealing with his abilities failing, but possibly most notably the first hint of ‘Mary Jane’ although not named at this point. But I won’t spend to many more words in introduction, please feel free to read on to see my review of this classic comic book. (more…)

We Have To Fight The X-Men!
While we have had Iceman and The Human Torch team up before in Strange Tales #120, the comic book I review today is the first time the two teams come face to face. That’s right, in Fantastic Four #28, we have the X-Men as special guest stars, and if the cover is not enough of a hint, the story title “We Have To Fight The X-Men!” should be, the two teams are going to face off in good old comic book combat. But the cover can also tell us more; as the two teams are not alone, this issue also features the return of The Puppet Master, The mad Thinker, and The Awesome Android.
But can two teams make this issue of Fantastic Four even better? Or is this hero Vs. Hero action growing stale; after all we have seen it before, from the Thing, to the Avengers, even Spider-Man has tangled with the Fantastic Four. (more…)

Sub-Mariner! Joins The Evil Mutants
This comic book review is of the story titled “Sub-Mariner! Joins The Evil Mutants” from X-Men #6 with a cover date of in July 1964. While the X-Men have been seen in other titles, this is the first guest star from the marvel universe at large to appear in the X-Men’s own title, as we witness Namor joining the evil mutants.
the question one has to ask in reading this story is if it is well thought out with the existing continuity for Namor, or just a silver age comics ploy to sell people upon a young title? In this case, (even if it was a ploy) the story and continuity where clearly in the minds of Stan lee and Jack Kirby, as you will see below. (more…)

The Thunder God Strikes Back!
Today, I follow-up and review the second part of a cliff hanger that was started in Journey Into Mystery #105. In that issue, Mr. Hyde and The Cobra teamed up to stop Thor, and by all appearances succeed, by separating him from his hammer. How can Thor stop the two opponents as Dr. Don Blake? We just have to read this tale to find out. Without further words, let’s get to my comic book review of the story titled “The Thunder God Strikes Back!”

The Cobra and Mr. Hyde
This comic book review is of the story titled “The Cobra and Mr. Hyde”; and serves as the first part of a two-part story that is started in Journey Into Mystery #105. in this epic tale, we have two former Thor villain, whom each almost stopped the god of thunder, teaming up to do what they could not do on their own.
but in addition to that team up, we continue to have Thor struggling with his love for Jane foster, and quite willing to hang up his hammer to be with the woman he loves. but does this story of action and heart have what it takes to be great.

Giants Walk The Earth!
For this comic book review I read Journey Into Mystery #104, and the tale titled “Giants Walk The Earth!” and while the title makes it sound like it might be one of the many monster stories that predated the marvel superhero’s this one is a Tale featuring Thor, Odin, Loki and more.
In fact, this tale seems to be continued right where the last left off, and with Loki still scheming his ongoing plan to get vengeance on Thor, although in this volume we seem to see a second motive show up for the first time, one of ruling Asgard. But can the Evil Loki succeed in this, or will Thor be able to stop his step-brother again?
