The Return of the Blob

X-men 7

X-Men #7 offered us a bit of everything, from character development, so story development as our hero’s move along the  course of their early adventures.  In this tale The original X-men Graduate, and all in only seven issues.  But now, they are left alone – as Professor X leaves them for tasks unknown –  to protect the world under the leadership of Cyclops.  If you think things can’t get any tougher for the young mutants, this issue features the Blob as a new member of the Evil Mutants.

Can the X-men Stop Magneto, Toad, Mastermind, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and the Blob, all without the help of their beloved Professor Xavier?  Will the blob remain loyal to the brother hood of Evil Mutants?   these questions and more are addressed in X-Men #7, but the issue also does a wonderful job leaving us to wonder: What business called Professor Xavier away? That will just have to be saved for a future story…  (more…)

Amazing Spider-Man #15
Kraven The Hunter

Amazing Spider-Man 15

Amazing Spider-Man #15, offered us a lot, the cover alone shows us that  it is the first appearance of Kraven The Hunter, as well as the return of the Chameleon. But this issue offers us a lot more then just what can be derived from the cover.  On the pages in between; we have drama in peter porkers love life, a spider-man faced with dealing with his abilities failing, but possibly most notably the first hint of ‘Mary Jane’ although not named at this point.  But I won’t spend to many more words in introduction, please feel free to read on to see my review of this classic comic book. Fantastic Four #28
We Have To Fight The X-Men!

Fantastic Four 28

While we have had Iceman and The Human Torch team up before in  Strange Tales #120, the comic book I review today is the first time the two teams come face to face.  That’s right, in Fantastic Four #28, we have the X-Men as special guest stars, and if the cover is not enough of a hint, the story title “We Have To Fight The X-Men!” should be, the two teams are going to face off in good old comic book combat.  But the cover can also tell us more; as the two teams are not alone, this issue also features the return of The Puppet Master, The mad Thinker, and The Awesome Android.

But can two teams make this issue of Fantastic Four even better?  Or is this hero Vs. Hero action growing stale; after all we have seen it before, from the Thing, to the Avengers, even Spider-Man  has tangled with the Fantastic Four. (more…)

X-Men #6
Sub-Mariner! Joins The Evil Mutants

X-Men 6

This comic book review is of the story titled “Sub-Mariner! Joins The Evil Mutants”  from X-Men #6 with a cover date of in July 1964.  While the X-Men have been seen in other titles, this is the first guest star from the marvel universe at large to appear in the X-Men’s own title, as we witness Namor joining the evil mutants.

the question one has to ask in reading this story is if it is well thought out with the existing continuity for Namor, or just  a silver age comics ploy to sell people upon a young title? In this case, (even if it was a ploy) the story and continuity where clearly in the minds of Stan lee and Jack Kirby, as you will see below. (more…)

Journey Into Mystery 106 With The Mighty Thor

Today, I follow-up and review the second part of a cliff hanger that was started in Journey Into Mystery #105. In that issue, Mr. Hyde and The Cobra teamed up to stop Thor, and by all appearances succeed, by separating him from his hammer.  How can Thor stop the two opponents as Dr. Don Blake?  We just have to read this tale to find out. Without further words, let’s get to my comic book review of the story titled “The Thunder God Strikes Back!”

Journey Into Mystery 105 with the mighty thor

This comic book review is of the story titled “The Cobra and Mr. Hyde”; and serves as the first part of a two-part story that is started in Journey Into Mystery #105.  in this epic tale, we have two former Thor villain, whom each almost stopped the god of thunder, teaming up to do what they could not do on their own.

but in addition to that team up, we continue to have Thor struggling with his love for Jane foster, and quite willing to hang up his hammer to be with the woman he loves.  but does this story of action and heart have what it takes to be great.

Giants Walk The Earth!

Journey Into Mystery With The Mighty Thor 104

For this comic book review I read Journey Into Mystery #104, and the tale titled “Giants Walk The Earth!” and while the title makes it sound like it might be one of the many monster stories that predated the marvel superhero’s this one is a Tale featuring Thor, Odin, Loki and more.

In fact, this tale seems to be continued right where the last left off, and with Loki still scheming his ongoing plan to get vengeance on Thor, although in this volume we seem to see a second motive show up for the first time, one of ruling Asgard.  But can the Evil Loki succeed in this, or will Thor be able to stop his step-brother again?

Avengers 3

For today’s comic book review I read Avengers #3,  In this issue we have Namor, the Sub-Mariner, in his first appearance scene Fantastic Four Annual #1.  But in this issue he does not face the Avengers alone, instead he acquires the assistance of the renegade and hunted Hulk to improve his chances of success against the surface world.

This issue also have an all-star cast, showing us almost every active hero In the marvel universe, even if only for a few short frames. We have the Fantastic Four, The X-men, and even Spider-Man making a showing in the first few pages, as the Avengers call out for help in locating the hulk. but to no surprise it is Rick Jones and the Teen Brigade that is the real help in locating him.  But Finding the Hulk is the easy part, and when he teams up with Namor, can even the Avengers stop them?
