At the end of spider-man #8 we got a bonus, a story featuring spider-man facing off against the human torch. but Hero vs. hero is always a dangerous line, and one that can be tough to do right, more so when its the main plot of a whole story. so read on to my review to see if I think they pulled it off this time.
Story
with the exception of how it begin’s, I feel they did not do a bad job of telling us a tale that has been being built up to in both Spider-Man stories, and ones featuring the human torch. Spider-Man party crashing at the human torches girlfriends just does not seem all that convincing, I would have expected better.
Once that was out-of-the-way, it was page after page of non stop action as the two hero’s fight, until the Fantastic Four join in. giving the story some redeeming hope as it progresses.
Art

I was glad to see a spider-Man story by The King, Jack Kirby. and with the Fantastic four, he also brought a great amount to this tale, giving us artwork and action that was top-notch, as well as personality, even tot he masked spider-Man.
I included a panel near the climax of the peace, showing event he human qualities that Jack can bring to the comic book characters.
Characters & Development
This was the big zero of the story, I felt that, Spider-Man’s reasoning was quite opposite how we have seen him act when it comes to starting the fight, and that alone brought down this story as a whole, even here. Then the fight offered little to redeem the story for our hero or for the guest stars.
Originality & Continuity
again not much was offered, or reasoned, this story was nothing more but an excuse to have the torch and spider-man fight, giving us little long-term redeeming qualities. Although a good fight between the two has been building, this background of this just does not fit.
