For today’s comic book review i read Tales To Astonish #53, where we have an Giant-Man feature that includes the return of The Porcupine. Now as you may remember from my review of Tales To Astonish #48, I was not to trilled with the porcupine or his first appearance. So now we will get to find out if his return sticks on me any better, or if this is another tale I would want to forget?
Story
This story was not less of a let down then the other, the Porcupine still seems to suffer from the same degree of limitless to his abilities, and then the Fan Club knowing how to find Giant-Man; that seemed to come into play again. Both things leave me with more questions than I will likely ever have a response too. But I have spoken about them before.
The one redeeming quality of this issue, is seeing Porcupine defeat himself, much as Dr. Doom did in a classic fantastic four. Now, no spoilers other then that I reviewed that issue and his return already. But the satisfying ending, does not make up for all the issues along the way.
Artwork
I do feel that The artwork was well done by Dick Ayers for this Giant-Man & wasp story. the giant man fan club and there wonderful costumes of the menaces our hero’s have faced looked wonderful.
Character & Development
Once again, we get a little hint and taste of just how important the wasp is to Giant-Man; making it easy to see just how this dynamic will likely play out in the months and even years to follow.
Originality & Continuity
I do feel that this worked in well with the continuity, even by including something that I thought they would intentionally forget for a second time, they showed me a level of depth to the ongoing story. at least for that I am impressed.
