This Strange Tale starts with Dr. Strange arriving home after the conclusion of the multi-part storyline from the previous issue, now equipped with a new cloak and amulet. His arrival is just in time to meet the disciple of a demon—a man who, realizing the error of his ways and who he follows, seeks Dr. Strange’s help to stop the demon. Interestingly, the “demon” seems to be more of a title for another sorcerer than an actual supernatural being. Watching this interaction, the sorcerer summons the disciple back, prompting Dr. Strange to leap into action.
Story
This issue is a lighter, standalone piece compared to the intense, multi-issue arc that preceded it. Still, it plays an important role—it lets us get acquainted, at least slightly, with what Dr. Strange’s new items (cloak and amulet) can do.
The action moves at the fast pace typical of these short, 10-page stories and delivers top-notch mystical and cerebral action, even if the stakes don’t feel as high as in previous issues. In fact, it serves as a nice breather after the recent heavier narratives.

Artwork

Ditko’s work on Dr. Strange is, as always, captivating. From the expert use of shadows to the way he visually depicts magic—from intricate hand motions to expressive faces and the detailed design of mystical artifacts
Characters & Development
This issue feels like a chance to set a new routine after the recent changes, reestablishing the status quo. While it doesn’t offer much in the way of character development, the groundwork laid in previous issues is on display here. For instance, we see Dr. Strange using his new cloak to levitate, showcasing the growth we’ve witnessed without pushing it further.
