Can the cover be right, can the hero gone good, the crimson Dynamo turn against Iron Man, and what of this new menace, the black widow? all these questions are addressed in Tales Of Suspense #52, the comic book that I read for this comic book review. But before I even start writing all the reasons you should read this issue, I would strongly suggest that you read Tales Of suspense #46 before starting this incredible follow-up, even if this issue does do a good job recapping those events early on.
Artwork
I feel that Don Heck did an adequate job with this issues artwork, offering us some interesting perspectives. Much as i discussed in a recent Thor issue, we get to see the art of seduction played out again. While I do not feel that this was done as well as Jack Kirby’s, I feel that Don’s work sufficiently got the job done.
Characters & Development
I feel this is the first issue in some time that we got to see Tony Stark, acting as much as Iron Man; more so in his date with the Black Widow. Between last months issue and this one, we are seeing the reemergence of tony stark as a rich playboy; something we have not seen as much of after they added Pepper and Happy.
Originality & Continuity
This story is full of suspense and surprises, proving to be not what you likely suspect in the first few pages. This is what makes this story original. Then when combined with the way it ties in with issue #46, we see just how much work they are putting in during these early days to try to have continuity.
Story
when all is said and done, we have a story that is worth reading, and showing us just how characters can change. Hopefully we will see more stories filled with deep questions like how to do the right thing that these two combined show us.
but please, take the time and tell me what you think of this classic? and the first appearance of The Black Widow?
