Real Name: Warren Worthington III
First Appearance: X-Men #1 (1963)
Affiliation: Founding member of the X-Men, trained by Professor Charles Xavier
Powers: Large, feathered wings granting him natural flight, along with enhanced agility and maneuverability in the air.
Introduced as one of Professor Xavier’s original students in X-Men #1, Angel uses his natural-born wings to serve as the team’s aerial scout and swift responder. Throughout X-Men #1–9, Warren Worthington III consistently applies his powers in support of the group, often providing quick reconnaissance, surprise attacks from above, and nimble evasive maneuvers against foes like the Vanisher, the Blob, and Magneto’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.
Although Angel’s abilities center on flight rather than raw offensive strength, his presence remains invaluable. With a confident and outgoing personality, he balances the more serious members of the team, adding to the dynamic that Professor Xavier has nurtured. Even at this early stage, Angel’s combination of physical grace, courage, and team spirit establishes him as a key member of the nascent X-Men.
